Budhiya Runs
On 2nd may 2005, a six year old boy named Budhiyaa from some Maharashtrian village ran for 65 kms continuosly. Everybody was amazed to see this huge effort by a child. People were calling him with names like "coming olympic champion" "wonder kid" etc.
His coach also worked very hard in bringing this child to this stage.
In the beginning there were praises for Budhiyaa & his coach but now, so many doctors, Human right activists, present as well as former players are saying that to run for such long distances is bad for Budhiyaa's health. Some people are even accusing the coach of exploiting Budhiyaa.
Though, all measures should be taken to examine the effects of such long distance race on Budhiya's health but we should not forget that it was only due to the same beleaguered coach that we know about a kid named Budhiyaan. Where our Government has been continuously failing in identifying and nurturing athletics in India, efforts of people like Budhiyaa's coach must be applauded for. Those HR activists, players or doctors who seem to be so worried about Budhiyaa's health must come up with some plan that how are they going to help Budhiyaa in becoming an athlete. If they fail to do so, then they must also stop tormenting Budhiyaa and his coach.
